About the Training Program
With the growing number of people in the United States who speak a language other than English, there is an increasing demand for bilingual and bicultural interpreters in the health care setting.
Courses Offered:
These participatory trainings will prepare students for more accurate medical interpreting within the Standards of Practice developed by the Massachusetts Medical Interpreters Association (MMIA).
Participants will gain an understanding of the American Health Care System and be able to sharpen their skills by role-playing scenarios in clinical settings, as well as emergency situations. Students will develop an understanding of the impact of cross cultural communication skills. The program will explore HIV/AIDS, emergency room interpreting, domestic violence issues and death and dying situations. Lectures are conducted by well-qualified and respected professionals in the field, among them are members of the MMIA.
Who Should Attend: Bilingual staff/volunteers working with MassHealth providers who wish to improve their skills and increase their medical terminology.
Registration: Sign up Early class size is limited! Pre-registrations for admission are required, as well as entry assessment.

Letters of Completion: Upon successful completion of training and payment, you will receive a Certificate and Letter of Completion.
